As part of this collaboration, several UWTSD degree programmes have now received CIMSPA endorsement, confirming their relevance to key professional roles in the sector, including Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer. This endorsement ensures that students graduate with the skills, knowledge, and practical experience required to thrive in the sport and physical activity workforce.

Dr Dylan Blain, Academic Director for Sport and Healthy Living, commented:

“This endorsement reflects our commitment to delivering programmes that are not only academically rigorous but also deeply rooted in vocational relevance. Our partnership with CIMSPA ensures that our students are equipped with the competencies employers are actively seeking, making them highly employable and ready to contribute meaningfully to the sector from day one.”

The endorsement strengthens UWTSD’s focus on employability and practical learning, embedding real-world skills and professional standards into the curriculum. Students benefit from hands-on experience, industry-informed teaching, and clear pathways into employment within the sport and physical activity sector.

Geraint Forster, Programme Manager for BSc (Hons) Sport & Exercise Science, added:

“We’re delighted that our programmes have been recognised by CIMSPA. This endorsement validates the practical and vocational emphasis we place on our teaching. It’s a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain qualifications that are directly aligned with industry roles, giving them a competitive edge in the job market.”

This partnership is a testament to UWTSD’s ongoing dedication to providing high-quality, career-focused education in sport and healthy living, and further strengthens its position as a leading institution for sport-related studies in Wales and beyond.
