  • This programme attracts applicants from a variety of backgrounds and experiences in terms of employment and academic qualifications. 

    This programme does not require applicants to possess formal qualifications; admissions assessment of the suitability of applicants is via rigorous interview and a written test.

    Once you have successfully completed your CertHE studies, you will be eligible to progress for the remaining two years of the bachelor’s degree.  

    These are ideal routes if you are returning to study after a gap, or if you have not previously studied this subject, or if you did not achieve the grades you need for a place on this degree.   

    Admissions Advice and Support  

    We may make you a lower offer based on a range of factors, such as your background, experiences and individual circumstances. This is known as ‘Contextual Admissions’. For specific advice and support you can contact our enquiries team for more information about entry requirements.  

    English language requirements  

    If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.0, with not less than 5.5 in each of the sub-tests. We also accept other English language tests.

    Visa and funding requirements  

    If you are not from the UK and you do not already have residency here, you may need to apply for a visa.  

    For courses of more than six months’ duration you will require a Student visa.  

    International students who require a Student visa should apply for our full-time courses as these qualify for Student visa sponsorship.

    Please note students receiving US Federal Aid are only able to apply for in-person, on-campus programmes which will have no elements of online study.

  • Coursework and practical tasks are set in a variety of formats. These include: 

    • Practical in-class set exercises. 

    • Role play (e.g. mock interviews)

    As the programme attracts learners from a range of backgrounds, with a variety of work and personal experience, in many cases assessments provide flexibility for the student to use their background and experience to make learning relevant to their prior work experience; students will be encouraged to develop projects that are relevant to their career aspirations. 

  • Some modules in this course are available to study through the medium of Welsh either fully or partially. In all cases students will be able to submit written assessments through the medium of Welsh.

    The UCAS tariff score is applicable to you if you have recently studied a qualification that has a UCAS tariff equivalence. UCAS provides a tariff calculator for you to work out what your qualification is worth within the UCAS tariff.  

    GCSEs  

    GCSE grade A*-C (grade 9-4 in England) in English and Mathematics is also required.

    English language requirements  

    If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.0, with not less than 5.5 in each of the sub-tests. We also accept other English language tests.

    If you are not from the UK and you do not already have residency here, you may need to apply for a visa.  

    For courses of more than six months’ duration you will require a Student visa.  

    International students who require a Student visa should apply for our full-time courses as these qualify for Student visa sponsorship.

    Please note students receiving US Federal Aid are only able to apply for in-person, on-campus programmes which will have no elements of online study.  

  • The programme is assessed by a combination of innovative and more traditional methods which are designed to develop students’ understanding, problem-solving and creative thinking during the programme. 

    Assessments are closely linked to learning activities, where students build understanding and skills in weekly sessions and are able to learn from formative assessment throughout the programme.

  • It is possible to complete this programme of study without any additional costs.

    Students may wish to purchase materials for modules, but this is not a requirement and will have no bearing on the final grade.

    Ar gyfer cyrsiau sy’n fwy na chwe mis, bydd angen fisa myfyrwyr arnoch chi.  

    Dylai myfyrwyr rhyngwladol sydd angen fisa Myfyriwr wneud cais am ein cyrsiau llawn amser gan eu bod yn gymwys ar gyfer nawdd fisa Myfyriwr.   

    I gael yr holl wybodaeth, darllenwch y dudalen gwneud cais am fisa a chanllawiau.    

    Sylwch mai dim ond ar gyfer rhaglenni wyneb yn wyneb, ar gampws, heb elfennau astudio ar-lein y gall myfyrwyr sy’n derbyn Cymorth Ffederal yr Unol Daleithiau wneud cais.

  • Caiff y rhaglen ei hasesu drwy gyfuniad o ddulliau arloesol a mwy traddodiadol sydd wedi’u cynllunio i ddatblygu dealltwriaeth, datrys problemau a meddwl creadigol myfyrwyr yn ystod y rhaglen. 

    Mae asesiadau wedi’u cysylltu’n agos â gweithgareddau dysgu, lle mae myfyrwyr yn meithrin dealltwriaeth a sgiliau mewn sesiynau wythnosol ac yn gallu dysgu o asesiadau ffurfiannol drwy gydol y rhaglen.

    Yn ogystal, mae nifer o ffyrdd i ymgysylltu â’r diwylliant a bywyd Cymreig yn PCYDDS, gan gynnwys ymuno â chlybiau a chymdeithasau ar gyfer siaradwyr Cymraeg ac ymuno â Changen fywiog y Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.

  • We are interested in applicants who want to contribute to the future of Social Enterprise. Previous study of business is not required and we welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds.

    For applicants under 21 years of age, we require one A-Level or NVQ level 3. Other awards including Edexcel awards, as well as a range of other certificates at this level from UK, EU and International bodies are accepted.

    A number of other equivalent qualifications are also accepted in contribution to your UCAS tariff points and the admissions panel will consider each application on an individual basis.

    Please note also that our offers are not based solely on your academic achievements; we take into account your full range of skills, experience and attainments when considering your application.

    32 UCAS Tariff Points

    The UCAS tariff score is applicable to you if you have recently studied a qualification that has a UCAS tariff equivalence. UCAS provides a tariff calculator for you to work out what your qualification is worth within the UCAS tariff.  

    GCSEs  

    GCSE grade A*-C (grade 9-4 in England) in English and Mathematics is also required.

    English language requirements  

    If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.0, with not less than 5.5 in each of the sub-tests. We also accept other English language tests.

    Visa and funding requirements  

    If you are not from the UK and you do not already have residency here, you may need to apply for a visa.  

    For courses of more than six months’ duration you will require a Student visa.  

    International students who require a Student visa should apply for our full-time courses as these qualify for Student visa sponsorship.

    Please note students receiving US Federal Aid are only able to apply for in-person, on-campus programmes which will have no elements of online study.  

  • The programme is assessed by a combination of innovative and more traditional methods which are designed to develop students’ understanding, problem-solving and creative thinking during the programme. 

    Assessments are closely linked to learning activities, where students build understanding and skills in weekly sessions and are able to learn from formative assessment throughout the programme.

  • It is possible to complete this programme of study without any additional costs.

    Students may wish to purchase materials for modules, but this is not a requirement and will have no bearing on the final grade.

  • Some modules in this course are available to study through the medium of Welsh either fully or partially. In all cases students will be able to submit written assessments through the medium of Welsh.

  • This programme attracts applicants from a variety of backgrounds and experiences in terms of employment and academic qualifications. 

    This programme does not require applicants to possess formal qualifications; admissions assessment of the suitability of applicants is via rigorous interview and a written test.

    Once you have successfully completed your CertHE studies, you will be eligible to progress for the remaining two years of the bachelor’s degree.  

    These are ideal routes if you are returning to study after a gap, or if you have not previously studied this subject, or if you did not achieve the grades you need for a place on this degree.

    We may make you a lower offer based on a range of factors, such as your background, experiences and individual circumstances. This is known as ‘Contextual Admissions’. For specific advice and support you can contact our enquiries team for more information about entry requirements.  

    English language requirements  

    If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.0, with not less than 5.5 in each of the sub-tests. We also accept other English language tests.

    Visa and funding requirements  

    If you are not from the UK and you do not already have residency here, you may need to apply for a visa.  

    For courses of more than six months’ duration you will require a Student visa.  

    International students who require a Student visa should apply for our full-time courses as these qualify for Student visa sponsorship.

    Please note students receiving US Federal Aid are only able to apply for in-person, on-campus programmes which will have no elements of online study.

  • Coursework and practical tasks are set in a variety of formats. These include: 

    • Practical in-class set exercises. 

    • Role play (e.g. mock interviews) 

    • Presentations (e.g. of business plans) 

    • Portfolios of work 

    • Research projects.

    As the programme attracts learners from a range of backgrounds, with a variety of work and personal experience, in many cases assessments provide flexibility for the student to use their background and experience to make learning relevant to their prior work experience; students will be encouraged to develop projects that are relevant to their career aspirations. 

  • Some modules in this course are available to study through the medium of Welsh either fully or partially. In all cases students will be able to submit written assessments through the medium of Welsh.

What you will learn

This program will equip students for various job opportunities in the public and private health and social care environment with a focus on adult and child care, for instance, residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, clinical health settings and daycare centres. Students will be able to take up roles such as Care Assistant, Family Support Worker, Community Worker and Teaching Assistant.

The programme is specifically created in its content and flexible delivery to give you the confidence to anticipate problems and find solutions, to work independently and with other people, to plan things out before you start and complete the things you’ve started, in short, to develop the skills that employers want!

All of the teachings are project-based, linking theory with practice and ensuring that each module is contextualised within real workplace situations and challenges.

  • This programme is available to Home applicants.

    Applications to our full-time undergraduate courses must be made directly to the University of Wales Trinity Saint David using our online application form.

    Entry onto the programme is by individual merit. Normally students under the age of 21 will have at least 1 A Level or BTEC National Diploma/Certificate or equivalent. Mature Candidates – experience can often be taken into consideration in lieu of formal qualifications. Grades are important; however, our offers are not solely based on academic results.

    We are interested in creative people that demonstrate a strong commitment to their chosen subject area and therefore we welcome applications from individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.   • There are a variety of assessments such as presentations, projects, reports and blogs. There are no examinations.

  • There will be no mandatory additional costs to study beyond the payment of tuition. Students should be prepared to incur the basic costs associated with studying such as transport and any on-campus purchases including printing, coffees, snacks or other sundry items.

    Many students also choose to invest in study support tools such as laptops, tablets, and/or software over the course of their studies. Any activities related to study or student life which bear a cost beyond tuition will be optional, and the expense shall be clearly communicated to students at the time of registration.
