Background

Alex is an Internationally exhibiting artist, focussing on the intersection between sculpture, drawing and installation based practice. Studying at Swansea College of Art for his BA, Alex gained his MA (Sculpture) from the Royal College of Art, London in 2015.

Solo exhibitions include SEAWALL at Ruthin Craft Centre 2025; blow in at Aldama Fabre Gallery, Bilbao, Spain; raised beach at MOSTYN, Llandudno. 

Alex has shown work at The Victoria and Albert Museum, The Whitechapel Gallery and Camden Arts Centre, London; The Mediterranean Biennale, Milan; La Citadel, Mauritius and The Museo Maritimo del Cantabrico, Spain. 

From 2012 and 2023, Alex co-directed ArtLacuna, a not-for-profit Gallery and Studios in London. Converting an old corners office into a thriving community art space, providing a critical space for artists to experiment and explore their practice. 

His work exists in several museum collections and International collections.

Professional and/or Research Experience

Alex is a member of SCAR, the Swansea College of Art research group encompassing professional artists across the creative disciplines.

Alongside Ryan Moule and Tim Davies, Alex co-managed the inception of Stiwdio Griffith, the Dynevor Campus Gallery at Swansea College of Art; where he organises and curates exhibitions within the space, recently collaborating with the Josef Herman Foundation. In Autumn 2025, he will be working in Stiwdio Griffith with Manon Awst and Dylan Huw (Wales in Venice Biennale 2026 artists) and in 2026 will be working with International Arts organisation, Artangel and Goldsmiths Contemporary Curating Course.

Alex has also spent many years in the industry of art, working as an exhibitions manager, technical installer, exhibition designer, art presentation specialist, conservator and professional dry-mounter.
