Stephen Mosey
Background
Stephen is a Senior Lecturer at the UWTSD, where he has taught and conducted research since 2016. He specialises in electronic system design and manufacture with expertise in ultrasonic non-destructive testing, signal processing, and imaging techniques.
Stephen has over twenty years’ experience across academia and industry. Prior to joining UWTSD, he was a Project Leader at The Welding Institute, managing applied research projects for industrial partners and developing advanced ultrasonic inspection technologies, including robotic and laser-based systems. He has also held research and engineering roles focused on the design of electronic hardware, firmware, and software for high‑value ultrasonic inspection equipment used in the petrochemical, rail, and aerospace sectors.
He holds a PhD in Resolution Enhancement of B‑Mode Ultrasound Images, and his current research continues to explore statistical signal processing and focusing techniques for improving ultrasonic image quality.
