Background

Antoinette has many years of experience in the hospitality industry, working in wine sales and marketing roles both in Canada and the UK, owning a wine education business and teaching hospitality and wine. 

Antoinette received her Bachelor of Commerce, Hospitality and Tourism Management, winning an award for outstanding research paper.  

She then worked for one of the largest independent wine agencies in Canada, as Ontario Wine Sales and Marketing Manager. In Wales, Antoinette was the Wine Project Manager at SA Brains Brewery & Company in Cardiff. Whilst working, she achieved the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Diploma, with a regional award (Bristol) and became a WSET Certified Educator.  

Antoinette’s research interests include wine and beverage tourism, and leadership and management. Her professional, entrepreneurial and academic experiences help inform her teaching by providing a thorough and powerful link between theory and practice.

Professional and/or Research Experience

Antoinette has over three decades of experience in the field of hospitality, principally in the wine industry, combining industry roles with specialist knowledge and academic underpinning. Before teaching, she held middle management wine and spirit positions within sales and marketing.

Antoinette founded the accredited wine education company, Wine For Life Learning, delivering Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) qualifications to hotel/restaurant employees and consumers. She also taught wine qualifications to online wine students for the WSET.

These experiences support and inform continuing research into the impact of wine and beverage tourism on the hospitality industry, through key developments, innovation and emerging trends.

At UWTSD, Antoinette is a lecturer in the International Gastronomy Management and Hospitality and Hotel Management Programmes. Antoinette also leads the teaching for the WSET qualifications.
