Background

Chris started his working journey within the engineering field, getting hands-on within a number of projects across many different industries, including the automotive, and agricultural fields. Within these roles, he always had a passion for continuous improvement - changing floor plans to improve process flow or, standardising processes to ensure consistency.

It was this passion that led to the administrative and management field, which saw him progress from an entry-level position through to project/programme management with cross-functional teams across Australasia. Within this capacity, he successfully developed and implemented performance and efficiency projects that were utilised by the branch and employed company-wide, achieving significant improvements and cost savings.

Chris has now been lecturing at UWTSD for over 7 years where his diverse professional experiences, inform his teaching across our undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio.

Professional and/or Research Experience

Research:

'Sense of Belonging within higher education', from both a staff and student perspective.
Based upon the work of Ahn and Davies, this study expands the research to be inclusive of the staff perspective, in order to garner a holistic appreciation of the factors that constitute a sense of belonging and community within the HE context.

'Toward Harmony'
Chris's PhD research, explores how we can build reciprocal and regenerative futures by rethinking our relationships with place, nature, and each other. Drawing on various philosophies, indigenous ways of knowing, and even insights from quantum science to develop new frameworks and tools that help us imagine economies and communities based not on extraction, but on reciprocity and harmonious co-becoming. All things have a voice, and are entangled, that these relationships are key, and that our future depends on how well we care for each other: human and more-than-human alike.
