Background

Sioned has 20 years professional and teaching experience in the education sector as a teacher educator. Prior to taking up her post at UWTSD,  Sioned worked as a primary school teacher, leading Humanities, Literacy and Science. Sioned has also written educational materials for publishers such as Peniarth and @tebol to support primary school teachers in teaching the Humanities.

Professional and/or Research Experience

Dr Sioned Hughes has over twenty years of experience as a teacher educator in the education sector. Prior to taking her post as a senior lecturer at UWTSD, Sioned worked as a primary school teacher, where she had the opportunity to lead Humanities, Science and Literacy within the schools.

At UWTSD, Sioned teaches on several modules across the BA Primary Education with QTS and PGCE (Primary and Secondary) programmes, including the research modules. Her research interests includes teaching and learning the Humanities, curriculum planning and progression (Curriculum for Wales), and citizenship.

Sioned is a supervisor on the National MA Education (Wales) and supports the teaching and supervising on the Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) programme.

Sioned support teachers in schools with their enquiry projects as part of the National Professional Enquiry Project (NPEP).
