Exchange and Visiting students
Study at UWTSD
Information for Exchange, Study Abroad, and Summer Programme Applicants
Students from around the world can apply to study in Wales for a truly unforgettable experience. We offer a well-established study abroad programme, along with reciprocal exchange opportunities through our partner institutions.
Choosing where to study abroad is a significant decision — one that could shape your future. Beyond gaining an international perspective on your studies, you’ll immerse yourself in a new culture, explore rich history, and experience a unique way of life.
Guidance for Incoming Study Abroad & Exchange Students
We strive to make the application process as seamless as possible for incoming students beginning their Study Abroad journey at UWTSD.
For Exchange students, we require a nomination from our overseas partner institutions. Partners must submit the nominated students’ details to the Go Global Team, including their full name, current field of study, and intended subject area at UWTSD. Once nominated, students will receive instructions on how to apply through the international exchange application.
Students applying as study abroad fee-paying students, outside of an exchange agreement, can apply directly before the deadline.
Wales is a great place to spend this precious time in your educational career.
Why Wales?
Wales offers an inspiring and enriching destination for this pivotal stage of your academic journey. The Study Abroad programme not only provides a strong academic foundation but is also designed to immerse you in the vibrant cultural and social experiences of Wales and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
Academic Programme and Credit Transfer
At the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, you can choose from a wide range of courses. Full details of available programmes will be confirmed by the International Mobility Team.
At the start of the programme, our professors will introduce each course, helping you decide which best aligns with your interests. Once enrolled, you will have between 12–17 hours of classes per week, earning 60 UK credits (30 ECTS credits) per semester.
At UWTSD, all study abroad and exchange modules are fully recognised through the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).
-
ECTS Credits: Each module has a credit value in line with the European standard, where 60 ECTS credits represent a full academic year and 30 ECTS credits represent one semester. ECTS ensures that the workload and learning outcomes of your modules are clearly defined and transferable between institutions.
-
US / Canadian Credit Hours: For students from North American institutions, UWTSD modules are mapped to US or Canadian credit hours. This helps ensure that study abroad modules are recognised by your home institution in line with your degree requirements.
-
UWTSD Grading: Students will receive grades according to the UWTSD grading scale. Grades are recorded on official transcripts and, where applicable, translated into your home institution’s grading system through the learning agreement.
Upon completing the Study Abroad programme, both you and your home institution will receive an official transcript.
