What was your favourite thing about Swansea campus?

My favourite thing about the campus has been the practical engineering environment. Being able to work around workshops, vehicles, manufacturing facilities, and testing equipment has made the course feel very hands-on. It has also created a strong link between the theory taught in lectures and the practical skills needed in industry.

Why did you choose UWTSD?

I chose UWTSD because the Motorsport Engineering course offered a strong practical focus alongside the academic content. I wanted a course that would allow me to develop as a well-rounded engineer, not just through lectures, but through real design, manufacturing, testing, and analysis work. The motorsport focus, workshop access, and project-based learning made it feel like the right place to build the skills needed for industry.

What do you enjoy outside your studies?

Outside my studies, I enjoy climbing, mountain biking, and working on vehicles. I have a strong interest in practical engineering projects, including restoration work, fabrication, 3D printing, and mechanical problem-solving. I have also been involved with the Air Cadets, Duke of Edinburgh, and the university rally team, which have helped me develop leadership, teamwork, and organisation skills.

What do you hope to do when you graduate?

After graduating, I will be starting a role with Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team within the model shop. This is an exciting opportunity to apply the practical and technical skills I have developed during my degree, particularly in manufacturing, composites, CAD, 3D printing, and motorsport engineering. My aim is to keep developing as an engineer within high-performance motorsport.

What was your favourite thing about your course?

My favourite thing about the course has been the opportunity to apply engineering theory to real projects. From vehicle dynamics and CFD to composites, manufacturing, and my final-year dissertation, the course has allowed me to solve practical engineering problems. I particularly enjoyed how open-ended the projects were, as they encouraged independent thinking, testing, validation, and decision-making.

Would you recommend UWTSD and why?

Yes, I would recommend UWTSD, especially to students who want a practical and applied engineering course. The course has allowed me to gain experience in design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, and project work, rather than only focusing on theory. The support from lecturers has also been valuable, particularly during major projects and dissertation work. It has helped me build confidence as an engineer and develop skills that are directly relevant to industry.
