Blas ar Brifysgol 2026 will take place on 22–23 June, and the University is encouraging eligible schools, colleges and learners to take advantage of this special opportunity.

The two-day course at the Carmarthen campus is for Year 12 pupils and Year 1 Level 3 students. It includes academic sessions, an overnight stay in our student accommodation, a world of work panel, and social activities led by current University students.

Blas ar Brifysgol is part of the University’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Welsh language, to promoting higher education through the medium of Welsh, and to ensuring that prospective students feel confident, welcomed and supported when considering university life.

According to one pupil who attended the course last year, the experience was exceptional:

“I feel like I’ve had a real and really good experience of life at university, especially by staying in the accommodation. The last two days have been extremely valuable, and I’m ever so grateful to have had the opportunity.”

The residential element of the course plays a key role in helping learners experience real student life, from living in university accommodation to socialising with peers from across Wales. For many, this experience is key in increasing confidence and clarity about the next step in their educational journey.

For this student, the academic sessions confirmed her career ambitions:

“What I’ve learnt about teaching during the course has confirmed to me that I want to be a primary teacher. The guest speakers were extremely inspiring, and I look forward to attending an open day soon.”

In addition to academic provision, there is a strong emphasis on care and inclusion, and transport is arranged to ensure that all learners are able to fully participate:

“Thank you very much for organising the transport – that meant a lot to us.”
