The Graduate Showcase took place at Yr Egin on the Carmarthen campus and at Porters Theatre, Cardiff. Acting students performed in front of a live audience before a post-show networking event, where industry professionals had the opportunity to meet the graduating creatives and explore the portfolio work of the Set Design & Production students.

Stacey – Jo Atkinson, UWTSD’s BA Set Design & Production Programme Manager, said:

“This is always my favourite time of year, celebrating students hard work and successes from the past three years, and the pride of seeing them networking with industry. This event reflects the importance of industry professionals visiting to see the graduate’s work.”

Sam Jones, UWTSD’s Programme Manager for Acting said:

“Showcase has been an opportunity for the actors to display their acting skills in which they’ve collected over the past nearly three years. They have been participating in professional workshops with industry professionals, developing their brand, and working on showcase material to prepare them for the creative industry. It is a sharing of monologues and duologues, with moments of hilarity, intensity and pace!”

Third Year Set Design & Production student Nicole Julier- Goodwin said:

“It’s an incredible opportunity to be able to network with industry professionals, as well as giving us a taste of the professional world, whilst we are still working within an educational environment.”

Nina Campbell, also a third year student added:

“I think it’s nice to find out that we have a lot of industry connections before we graduate. It lets us know that even after we leave, we’ve got a lot of support from the university, and the people that they have introduced us to.”

For Acting student Joseph Gillen:

“It was well worth the hours put in; I had a great time! I felt confident and it has prepared me for any future showcases I may be a part of.”
