UWTSD Swansea College of Art Fine Art lecturer and artist Holly Slingsby is presenting new work in Elsewhere, Here, a group exhibition in Cork, Ireland, organised by elysium studios, Swansea.

The exhibition brings together a diverse range of contemporary practices from Swansea’s thriving artist-led community and includes work by several alumni of UWTSD’s Fine Art course.

Among them are elysium founder Jonathan Powell, as well as recipients of the prestigious Elysium Sculpture Award: Heidi Lucce-Redcliffe and Ewan Coombs (2024 awardees), and Luke Cotter and Hollie Wilkins (2025 awardees).

Holly’s practice spans performance, painting, and video, often exploring myth, ritual, and the role of ancient images in contemporary culture.

Elsewhere, Here runs from 3 September – 27 September 2025 at the Lord Mayor’s Pavilion, Cork, and features painting, sculpture, and installation works by over 30 artists from the elysium community. The exhibition explores ideas of place, belonging, and identity while fostering cultural dialogue between Wales and Ireland.

This marks the first time a group of elysium artists have exhibited in Cork, and forms part of an ongoing exchange programme between Sample Studios (Cork) and elysium gallery (Swansea), following a successful collaborative exhibition in Swansea in 2024.

Founded in 2007, elysium gallery is an artist-led organisation in Swansea, dedicated to supporting contemporary visual art through studio provision, exhibitions, and community engagement. It is one of the largest providers of studio spaces for artists in Wales and has played a key role in strengthening the artist-led movement nationally and internationally.

“Cork will welcome a vibrant wave of contemporary art from Wales through this exhibition,” explains the curatorial statement. “It is an exchange of perspectives, a meeting point between the familiar and the unknown.”

Jonathan Powell, Director of elysium gallery, said: “We believe in building bridges between creative communities. Cork has a thriving independent art scene, and this exhibition is a chance to share, learn, and spark new connections.”
