Role in the University

I undertake a wide variety of tasks involved in the planning, design and implementation of ongoing research projects within the Psychological Evaluation and Research Consultancy Hub (PERCH), supporting the lead researchers to conduct empirical and robust research activity.

Background

I began my career as a mature student, returning to education in 2013 after my daughter started school. I studied for my BA (Hons) from 2015–2018, and then completed my MSc between 2019 and 2021.

I took on a part-time, temporary role as a Research Assistant with PERCH in September 2021, and worked on a project exploring the relationship between workspaces and staff wellbeing.

In September 2022, I returned to PERCH in a full-time Research Assistant role, continuing the progress on my previous project, and becoming involved with a number of other research studies, both ongoing and still in the planning stage.

Academic Interests

My role does not currently include any teaching responsibilities or research activity specific to one academic field and I have a broad interest in applied psychological research methodologies. I am also personally interested in the cognitive processes underlying behavioural change, particularly in regards to marginalised groups such as people with disabilities, and disadvantaged children and young people.

Research Interests

I am an early-career researcher, whose specific interests are embedded within both social and health psychology. Some previous and ongoing projects that I have completed/am involved in include:

  • A collaborative exploration of the psychological underpinnings of pro-environmental behaviours.
  • An independent quantitative research study, investigating the predictive power of political ideologies towards adherence to COVID-19 health interventions.
  • A longitudinal study evaluating the efficacy of a Widening Access to Higher Education initiative in Wales
  • A qualitative exploration exploring the impact of prosthetic leg covers on the mental health and well-being of amputees
