Background

Maria Jose (Mache) Treviño Gonzalez has over 20 years of experience as a facilitator and consultant. Her work bridges experiential learning, social justice, and community development across Latin America and the UK, with projects addressing diverse topics such as inclusion, gender-based violence prevention, and wellbeing. Internationally, Mache has mentored educators, developed hybrid and online learning strategies, and convened regional and global conferences. 

Mache holds a BSc in Psychology, an MA in Humanistic Psychology, and a second MA in Outdoor and Experiential Learning. 

As a Lecturer and Programme Manager of the MA in Outdoor Education at UWTSD, Mache continues striving for educational innovation and expanding the horizons for outdoor practice, reflecting her commitment to equity, inclusion, and wellbeing through experiential learning, and to building stronger connections between academic research, professional practice, and community development.

Professional and/or Research Experience

Mache Treviño has over 20 years’ experience as an experiential facilitator, consultant, and researcher. She has led educational programming, training and participatory social impact evaluations in sectors such as health, outdoor education, and sustainability, while also lecturing in Outdoor and Adventure Education at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UK) and developing curricula for postgraduate programmes in Mexico. Her work integrates humanistic psychology, creativity, and experiential methods to address issues of equity, social inclusion, and wellbeing. She has mentored educators internationally, designed innovative hybrid and online learning strategies, and convened regional and international experiential education conferences. With her work as lecturer and dissertation supervisor, she continues to link research and practice through projects that expand access to the outdoors and experiential learning for diverse communities.
