Media, Performance and Digital Communication (BA Hons)

Carmarthen
3 Years Full-time
88 - 104 UCAS Points

Our BA Media, Performance and Digital Communication programme offers a unique opportunity to study practically and develop your creative skills using digital media, communication and performing arts through the medium of Welsh.

This is a unique degree in West Wales which will provide relevant industry experiences with the input of practitioners in the sector.

You will follow modules that have successfully trained a large network of actor and producer alumni at UWTSD that have now been updated to include new innovative assessments such as podcast creation and applied acting skills in response to challenges and opportunities faced by industry professionals today.

The course combines contemporary production skills, content creation and knowledge of acting and performance techniques, with communication studies that will extend your opportunities to test and develop interdisciplinary skills.

Through creative challenge, the degree will prepare you so that you are ready for a rich and varied career in Wales’ Creative Industries. You will learn to use a wide range of skills from web-based writing and publishing to improvised performance, from digital content design and production to mainhouse theatre productions, and from digital story-telling to voice recording and sound production.

The programme has been specifically developed with input from graduates, professionals and peers across the creative industries from the outset. This means that our students will gain sector-focussed skills and knowledge, and connect with professionals throughout the degree, helping them become employment ready by graduation.

With professional placement experiences built into your degree you can hit the ground running in the fast-paced worlds of professional media, theatre and communication.

In developing our Welsh medium offer in Media, Performance and Digital Communications on the Carmarthen campus, we are working with a number of industry-related tenants based at Canolfan S4C Yr Egin, such as Telesgop, Carlam, Captain Jac, Theatr Cymru and the National Eisteddfod. In addition, we can draw on the wealth of media companies located throughout West Wales.
