Dechreuodd Dr Tinney ei gyrfa fel ecolegydd ym Mhrifysgol Caerhirfryn ac yna symudodd i addysgu yn y sector addysg bellach a dysgu oedolion, gan addysgu cyrsiau llesiant, gofal cymdeithasol a gwyddoniaeth.
Yn 2002, cyfunodd Glenda ei diddordeb mewn llesiant, dysgu yn yr awyr agored a chynaliadwyedd pan gafodd ei phenodi’n ddarlithydd ym Mhrifysgol Cymru, Y Drindod Dewi Sant yn cyflwyno rhaglenni israddedig ac ôl-raddedig sy’n gysylltiedig ag ymwybyddiaeth amgylcheddol, cadwraeth a datblygu cynaliadwy.
Yn 2007 fe’i penodwyd yn Uwch Ddarlithydd, yn yr Ysgol Plentyndod Cynnar, lle mae wedi gallu cysylltu ei diddordeb mewn cynaliadwyedd a llesiant â phrofiadau plant ifanc o Addysg ar gyfer Datblygu Cynaliadwy a Dinasyddiaeth Fyd-eang (ADCDF) yng Nghymru. Mae ganddi gymhwyster lefel 3 Arweinydd Ysgol Goedwig sy’n cefnogi ei gwaith gyda phlant ac oedolion yn yr awyr agored. Mae hi’n gwirfoddoli’n rheolaidd mewn lleoliad lleol yn cefnogi dysgu yn yr awyr agored.
