  • All rooms in halls of residence come fully furnished, the fixtures and fittings include a bed with mattress, desk and chair, hand wash basin, mirror, wardrobe, shelving, and bedside cabinet. - You will be required to complete a room inventory upon your arrival.

  • Every bedroom in halls of residence has access to free wireless and wired internet connection.

    UWTSD: Summary Using eduroam and CampusNet

    eduroam (Academic Network – Laptops, Mobiles, Tablets)

    eduroam would function as the primary academic Wi‑Fi network across all UWTSD campuses and halls of residence.

    Key Characteristics

    • Designed for secure academic use
    • Requires authentication via UWTSD username + password.
    • Intended for:
      • Academic work
      • Email & Teams
      • Browsing and research
    • Not suitable for gaming consoles or smart devices

    Service Aims

    • High availability in academic buildings and halls
    • Roaming support across UK universities and global eduroam partners
    • Managed by UWTSD IT Services
    • Best for bandwidth‑moderate use (e.g., video calls, VLE access)

    CampusNet (Residential Network – Consoles, TVs, Smart Devices)

    This network is what supports gaming, smart TVs, speakers, and other non‑academic devices.

    Key Characteristics Based on Sector Standards

    • Separate from eduroam to avoid WPA2‑Enterprise compatibility issues
    • Designed for student residential living
    • Supports device registration (MAC‑based)

    Device Support

    • Gaming consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch)
    • Smart TVs
    • Smart speakers (e.g., Alexa, Google Home)
    • E‑readers, streaming devices
    • Wired Ethernet where available (recommended for best performance)

    Service Expectations

    • High‑speed Wi‑Fi with capacity for HD streaming and gaming 
    • Fair usage or dynamic load management
    • Option to contact IT Support 
    • Ability to connect multiple devices
  • Student possessions insurance has been provided through Howden for every student who is living at our student residences. This covers a range of belongings inside your room, including laptops, sports and electrical equipment, clothes and frozen food. This has been arranged by the University at no extra cost to the student. If you wish to check what is covered under the policy, please get in touch with accommodation@uwtsd.ac.uk.

  • Students are required to bring their own bedding, towels, coat hangers, cooking utensils (including cutlery and crockery), cleaning and washing products, dishcloths, tea towels, food etc. A list of recommended items to bring with you will be sent to you by email prior to your arrival on the campus 

     

  • Bus timetables are available from the HWB App.

  • All your mail is delivered to the Security Team in the Dewi Reception, and you will be required to collect during the collection hours shown in The Guide to Residential Living.

  • You will be emailed information on parking during your first week at university.

  • There are two laundry locations in Carmarthen, which have card operated washing machines and dryers.

  • All students living in halls of residence are responsible for keeping the accommodation clean and tidy.  A team of cleaners (both male and female) will enter the building every working day between 9am and 12 noon to top up cleaning in the kitchens and corridors. Note, they do not wash dishes. Students are expected to clean their own study bedroom. 

  • Your licence agreement covers the use of your room for 38 weeks, which includes the Christmas and Easter holidays.
