Cefndir

Mae Dr Jane Waters-Davies yn Athro Cysylltiol mewn Plentyndod Cynnar. Yn wreiddiol yn athrawes ysgol gynradd yn Llundain, mae hi wedi gweithio ym maes Addysg Uwch yng Nghymru ers dros 25 mlynedd. Mae gan Jane brofiad helaeth fel darlithydd, ymchwilydd, goruchwyliwr graddau doethur, a rheolwr rhaglenni, ar ôl arwain rhaglenni mewn Astudiaethau Plentyndod Cynnar, ac Addysg Gychwynnol Athrawon (AGA).

Mae hi’n arweinydd strategol profiadol, wedi goruchwylio newid sylweddol yn y ddarpariaeth AGA, dylunio ac arwain rhaglen ddoethuriaeth broffesiynol arloesol, a datblygu ymchwil addysg yn y Brifysgol gan arwain at ei chyflwyniad cyntaf ym maes Addysg i’r Fframwaith Rhagoriaeth Ymchwil.

Mae Jane yn aelod o banel cynghori Llywodraeth Cymru ar gyfer y blynyddoedd cynnar. Mae hi’n angerddol am ba mor bwysig yw hi i addysgwyr plentyndod cynnar ddeall cymhlethdodau’r gwaith maen nhw’n ei wneud, gallu eirioli dros ddysgu chwareus ar ran plant a chael eu parchu am eu proffesiynoldeb aruthrol.

Mae hi'n ymchwilydd ansoddol profiadol, gyda diddordebau ymchwil yng nghyfranogiad, chwarae a dysgu plant ifanc, chwarae awyr agored a datblygu cysyniadau cynnar, ac addysg broffesiynol athrawon a'r rhai sy'n gweithio gyda phlant ifanc. Mae hi wedi bod yn rhan o brosiectau ymchwil amrywiol, wedi'u hariannu a heb eu hariannu, fel PI a Co-I, yn fwyaf diweddar yn archwilio: rôl yr oedolyn wrth gefnogi datblygu cysyniadau yn ystod plentyndod cynnar; profiadau dysgwyr o addysg trwy bandemig Covid-19; a, phrofiadau addysgwyr athrawon yn ystod cyfnod o newid strwythurol yn y ddarpariaeth AGA. Mae ei phrosiect ymchwil cyfredol, a ariennir gan yr ESRC, yn archwilio cyfranogiad plant ifanc mewn ystafelloedd dosbarth plentyndod cynnar: https://childrens-participation.org/
